The first step is to attend your classroom training sessions, where you'll learn about the theory behind air brakes.
This will include a discussion of how the brakes work, as well as safety procedures and regulations.
1. Classroom Training

This will involve getting behind the wheel of a vehicle with air brakes and putting what you've learned into practice.
The practical training is designed to give you the confidence and skills you need to operate a vehicle with air brakes safely.
2. Practical Training

After the required training, you will be taking a one-on-one practical assessment test, with a time limit.
Passing this will provide you with an Air Brake Assessment Completion Form.
3. Take the Practical Assessment

After passing the practical assessment, you can now take the knowledge test at any registry office. While this is not time-limited, the test will automatically end after 6 incorrect answers.
Passing this will garner you an Air Brake “Q” Endorsement on your license card.
