CLASS 3 LICENSE TRAINING
What Can You Drive With A Class 3 License?
- Every vehicle that a Class 5 driver is permitted to operate.
- A single vehicle with three or more axles.
- A vehicle with three or more axles towing a trailer with one or more axles (only if the trailer is not equipped with Air Brakes)
- You can only drive a Class 1, 2, 4, or 6 car as a student

What Types Of Vehicles Can’t You Operate?
- Vehicles with more than 15 passengers, including the operator
- Passenger transportation for hire
What Will You Need to Begin Your Instruction?
- You must be at least 18
- You need a Class 5 Alberta driver's license that is non-probationary (non-GDL)
What Kind of Training Do You Need?
Each learner is unique and brings a variety of experiences (or none at all!). We offer hourly instruction, and the following courses:
Introductory Course
1 - 2 weeks/18.5 hours
$1,550.00
- In-truck basic training – 10 hours
- One full day Air Brake course
Extended Course
2 weeks/26.5 hours
$2,500.00
- In-truck basic training - 18 hours
- One full day Air Brake course
Hourly Training
$130/hr
Class 3 Road Test Permit Fee
$160
To be eligible for a Class 3 road test, the following must be completed:
- Air Brakes - must have either a "Q" on their licence or their original Air Brake endorsement
- Class 3 written test – study both basic as well as commercial driver guides (all chapters except chapters for Class 1 and 2)
